Travesty is presented as a surviving chronicle from another age. Its pages gather the recollections of Sarama of Lanka — witness, Sita's confidante and amateur proto-historian — as she records the final days before lives, loyalties and kingdoms are changed forever. Read as you would a collection of recovered papers: one conversation, one memory and one fragment at a time.

The World

The Lankan Papers revisit the world of the Ramayana through the eyes of those who survived it rather than those who became legends. Arya and Raksha alike believe they act with honor, yet each inherits a different understanding of duty and justice. The chronicles begin recording events starting with the Travesty of Sita's Agni Pariksha (fire travesty).

The Series

The Lankan Papers lead into the Throne in Exile series, which follows the lives of Ram and Sita after their return from Lanka. See About Page. Together with an accompanying feature screenplay, the series explores the consequences of honor kept and honor lost.
